ABOUT LAUREN
TV Personality. Actress. Miss Universe Canada 2017
Engineer. Photographer. Human Golden Retriever.
Lauren Howe was fortunate to pick up a camera at a young age, in part, because it was a great form of entertainment for a socially awkward only child raised by a single mother.
Lauren has been shooting for over 15 years and has always been passionate about the camera's ability to tell a story. Her unique experiences across three fields, in particular, have influenced her work:
1 - NATURE & WILDLIFE
Lauren has shot in remote areas of all seven continents and areas including Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galapagos, Indonesia, India, and more. It was learning under National Geographic's Michael Melford in Svalbard that she began to fine-tune her craft.
2 - EDITORIAL & FILM
As an actress, TV host, former model and Miss Universe Canada (Top 10 at Miss Universe 2017), she was always fascinated by the editorial process and worked with highly talented creative teams When she's behind the lens, she looks for moments that not only are visually beautiful but also can capture a story.
3 - SPORTS
Lauren trained as a high-performance field hockey athlete and got her start in entertainment as the In-Arena host with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The world of sports will always have a special place in her heart, from the games themselves to the stories surrounding sports that can inspire others.
TV PERSONALITY & HOST
Lauren's start in entertainment began as the In-Arena Host for the Toronto Maple Leafs and she has since hosted a variety of live sporting events. She is a correspondent for CityTV, regularly appearing on Cityline, Breakfast Television, and covering special events including TIFF and the national broadcast of the Grammy Awards Red Carpet.
ACTRESS
Moving into the world of scripted film & television was a natural transition for Lauren, having always trained "for fun"
MISS UNIVERSE CANADA
What started as a "long shot" while searching for scholarship opportunities, led to Lauren winning Miss Universe Canada, placing in the Top 10 at Miss Universe, and producing a docuseries about women's rights around the world (currently in pre-production).
